June 5-11
Fishing the week of June 5-11 has remained very good in Door County! The small mouth bass fishing has been good. From what I have been finding a lot of the bass in the area are on beds spawning. There are certainly fish out deeper too that still have spawn in them. These are the ones that we have been targeting. Fishing these fish we have been using tubes, hair jigs, swim baits and if the wind is blowing deeper perk baits. These fish are very aggressive when you find them, sometimes it just takes some time to get them to bite.
This week we also did see a good number of walleyes in the Door County area and they were biting! I found a few schools in 10-20 feet of water. This bite should only get better as the water keeps warming up.
Our salmon and trout haven't really showed up quite yet unfortunately, with the later spring than normal and the cooler water temps they just haven't made the push from the south yet. The other day i went out to check things out and 55’ down the water was 42 degrees. That isn't terrible for a mid water temp but we haven't had any warmer weather to compliment any of it. About another week and our bite should fire up!
