If you’ve been thinking about booking a fishing charter in Door County, now is the time. Salmon fishing on Lake Michigan is in full swing, and July is shaping up to be one of the best months of the season. At Big Bite Adventures, we’re seeing steady action on both king salmon and steelhead trout, with the salmon averaging between 10 and 25 pounds.
Whether you’re visiting from Chicago, Milwaukee, Green Bay, or Minneapolis—or you’re a local looking to get on the water—our guided salmon and trout fishing trips in Sturgeon Bay, Baileys Harbor, and Washington Island offer unmatched action close to shore.
Morning & Evening Salmon Trips – Quick Runs, More Fishing Time for the customer vs going out of sturgeon bay where you are driving and idling through no wake zones for an hour before you're fishing, where we fish, we only drive for 5-10 minutes. Well let you decide where the best place for the customer is!
We run daily salmon fishing charters on the Lake Michigan side of Door County out of Baileys Harbor. You can choose between a:
• Morning trip: Leaves the dock at 4:00 AM, back by 9:00 AM
• Evening trip: Leaves at 4:00 PM, returns at 9:00 PM
Both are five-hour trips, fully guided, with all tackle and gear provided. These charters are perfect for families, couples, or groups of friends looking for a fun, relaxing way to experience Door County’s summer fishing season.
Unlike some charter services that travel an hour to reach the fish, we’re fishing within 5 to 10 minutes of leaving the dock. That means less time riding, more time reeling, and a better shot at filling the cooler.
New for 2025: Kids Fish Free!
We’re excited to announce that kids under 12 fish for free on all of our July and August salmon trips. It’s our way of helping families make the most of their Door County vacation. These trips are a great addition to your list of family-friendly things to do in Door County this summer.
All trips require a two-person minimum, but kids under 12 do not count toward that number—and we welcome first-timers!
What We’re Catching righ now
Right now, our captains are running lines between 70 and 150 feet of water, targeting aggressive summer Chinook salmon (king salmon) and Lake Michigan steelhead. This is the kind of fishing Door County is famous for—no lake trout here, just powerful, hard-fighting salmon.
Our current spread includes spoons, flashers, and meat rigs, all dialed in to match the bite. You don’t need to be an expert; we’ll walk you through everything. Our guides are passionate, patient, and ready to help you land your first (or biggest) salmon yet.
Our Salmon Boats – Built for Comfort & Performance
We operate two fully equipped boats designed for comfort, safety, and performance:
• 30’ Pursuit – Twin 225 HP Yamahas- roomy layout, private bathroom, ideal for groups
• 28’ Sea Lion Center Console – Twin 200 Mercurys- fast and maneuverable, also with a bathroom onboard. Both vessels are licensed and insured and can handle anything Lake Michigan throws at us in July and August. Both boats can handle groups of 2-6 people
